Last in the series in which general practitioner Dr Martin Hughes examines some common medical problems and follows patients as they seek treatment. Firemen in Britain are not permitted to wear spectacles or contact lenses. Their eyesight has to be perfect - and, of course, has to remain so. When fireman David Drain discovered that he had become short-sighted he knew that his job was on the line. One consequence of being out of work was that his family faced the prospect of losing their
Suffolk home, because he would no longer be able to pay the mortgage. Then he heard about new laser surgery that might be able to correct his sight. He would have to borrow cash for a private operation and there was always a risk that it would not work. But for David there was no choice. He decided that he had to take the chance.

The epic cattle drive continues in this realistic portrayal of the violent times of the wild west, starring Robert Duvall, Tommy Lee Jones, Anjelica Huston, Danny Glover

Gus tries to comfort Lorena, who is emotionally devastated by her ordeal. Jake discovers the Suggs brothers are brutal murderers who enjoy killing for sport, but retribution is on its way. In Ogallala Gus, reunited with his beloved Clara, spends a halcyon time reflecting on their lost years and love. Newt finally learns who his father is. The cattle drive hits a dry, parched area, and they travel some 80 miles before reaching a water hole, only to have their horses stolen.
