This special "Omnibus" presents an exclusive insight into the most famous ballet company in the world.
With unique archive film, interviews with leading figures in Soviet ballet, and specially filmed extracts from their present repertoire, this documentary charts the past, Present and future of the Bolshoi. Omnibus cameras were allowed unprecedented access to company rehearsals in Moscow, and the stars of tomorrow appear in sequences shot at the famous Moscow Choreographic Institute, the Bolshoi Ballet School. At the centre of this film are two legends of the ballet world. The Bolshoi's Artistic Director and Chief Choreographer Yuri Grigorovich appears for the first time in an interview for British television; and Galina Ulanova talks about her distinguished career as the most feted dancer in Soviet ballet. Past and recent stars of the Bolshoi, including the great names of Messerer, Plisetskaya, Vassiliev, Maximova and Lavrovsky add their own reminiscences. Also featured are members of the present company, including Prima Ballerina Assoluta Natalya Bessmertnova ballerinas Ludmilla Semenyaka and Nina Ananiashvili and male stars Irek Mukhamedov and Andris Liepa
With extracts from "Giselle", "Don Quixote", "The Golden Age", "Spartacus", "Ivan the Terrible", "Raymonda", "The Seagull" and many other ballets.

(The Bolshoi in the Park live next Saturday on BBC2)

from Stuttgart Introduced by Desmond Lynam
They don't come much better than CRAM, KOCH and THOMPSON so if they're not worth waiting up for, any late conversions to sport seem unlikely. Great finals this afternoon with the field events as good here as anywhere in the world.
There's a better than average chance of catching the National Anthem well before closedown.
