The National programme will be interrupted between 12.25 and 1.15 for a description of the Lord Mayor's
Procession by John Snagge from the Mansion House
As soon as the head of the Lord Mayor's procession passes the Mansion House the programme will be interrupted for listeners to hear a commentary. John Snagge , who will be on the roof of the Mansion House in the heart of the City, with the Royal Exchange on his right and the Bank of England opposite, will give an account of the pageantry moving beneath him. The procession with its theme of Empire trade, will already have passed through the Lord Mayor's Ward, Cripplegate, and be on the way to the Law Courts for the Lord Mayor to be sworn in and to assume his unique privileges. It is of interest to know that on the way back the procession will be televised.

Round the Countryside: Some Queer Fish
C.C. Gaddum
Most people regard fish as normal animals that all behave in very much the same sort of way. Mr. Gaddum in his talk today will tell listeners about the curious fish called the stickleback, which is common in most ponds and streams. Unlike most fish, the stickleback builds a nest in which the female is imprisoned until the eggs are hatched, when the young fry are taken care of by the male. Finally, Mr. Gaddum will talk about another curious fish. the flatfish, which changes colour in order to adapt itself to its surroundings.

A description of the scene in the Guildhall by Olga Collett
Broadcast from the Guildhall
Mrs. Olga Collett , daughter-in-law of a former Lord Mayor of London, will watch the historic scene from the gallery that will later be occupied by the Lady Mayoress's Maids of Honour, who will dine in a private room. While she looks down on the assembled guests, among whom will be the Prime Minister, the Archbishop of Canterbury, and foreign ambassadors, the Lord Mayor's procession will come in, heralded by trumpeters, and the Lord Mayor will enter the brilliant banquet room in the Guildhall.

the Rt. Hon. Neville Chamberlain from the Guildhall
Tonight's banquet, held every year by long tradition and broadcast regularly (with one exception) since 1925, is not a public, but a private, function. It is a dinner given by the new Lord Mayor to the ex-Lord Mayor, who is the principal guest. By tradition it has become an occasion to introduce some of His Majesty's Ministers, and the Prime Minister, or the highest Minister available, invariably goes.
The only part of the banquet to be broadcast this evening will be the Prime Minister's speech-a speech that usually provides a forecast of the Government's future foreign policy.
