' Flying as a Rest Cure'
Ann Stafford
Ann Stafford , after a University career at Newnham and King's College (London), tried her hand at politics and commerce, and then settled down as a novelist and journalist. She lives in London and says that she spent most of last year having appendicitis and complications. She took up flying afterwards because she was not allowed to ride or walk and badly needed a new adventure to convince her that life was worth living.
She is fond of adventure, and listeners may remember the vivid account she and Jane Oliver gave on the air of a holiday they spent on horseback in the New Forest.

At the Theatre Organ,
Reginald Foort
Produced by Ernest Longstaffe
This great favourite-surely one of the most brilliant actors ever to choose the Variety stage as the medium of his art-is to give three varied and representative pieces from' his repertoire: 'Orange Blossoms', a story of the East by Sax Rohmer. in which Bransby Williams gives a notable character study ; his own monologue, Old " 94 " On Time ', which he broadcast in August last year and in which he gives a whimsical sketch of an old man giving his opinion on time ; and finally, The Charge of the Light Brigade ' by Tennyson.

Posthumous Lieder sung by John McKenna (tenor)
Standchen (Alles wiegt die stille
Nacht)
Knabentod Nachruf
Da fahr ich still im Wagen Nachtgruss
After remaining in manuscript for over fifty years, some early songs of Hugo Wolf , dating from the period 1878-1883 have now been published and edited by Professor Dr. Helmut Schultz of the Musikwissenschaft Verlag in Vienna. The manuscripts were left as part of a legacy to a family with whom Wolf had been closely connected. Ernest Newman pointed out when these songs appeared last year that those listeners who do not already know their Wolf must beware of assuming that the Wolf represented in these songs is the real Wolf except in embryo ; but the seasoned student of him will find much material for thought in these songs.
Further recitals in this series will be broadcast as follows : Tuesday (Regional 9.40), Wednesday (Regional
7.30), Thursday (National 8.25), and Friday (National 6.25).

' Youth Hostels'
Howard Marshall and Others
What about this open-air business that has grown so enormously since the war ? Is it merely an escape from town life that does nobody any good, or is it opening up new worlds of experience and thought such as this town-bred generation badly needs ? For good or ill, the Youth Hostels Association with its sixty thousand members and its 260 hostels, where members stay for a shilling a night, plays a big part. Tonight Howard Marshall will discuss the subject with experienced hostellers.
