Once again listeners are to hear this little miracle play relayed from Cornwall, where it has been acted by the villagers every year. Nothing can be more moving than the dramatic moment when the voices of the dead of the parish rise up to bless the young married couple.
This play was specially written for broadcasting, and one can imagine no better medium for conveying its beauty and simplicity to an audience. It is acted in the village church.

The Cafe Colette was inaugurated almost as a challenge by the present Variety Director, who was so tired of hearing people say that British musicians could never play with the light-hearted spirit of foreigners. He put it on, and for a long time no one tumbled to the truth. People complained that it was disgraceful to employ foreigners when there were so many British musicians out of work, and a certain lady addressed a letter to the Conductor, The Cafe Colette, Paris, and, on its being returned to her by the French Post Office, sent a message to the B.B.C. to say she would be sure to look in at the Cafe Colette when she was next in Paris.
For a long time the joke was kept up, but when Walford Hyden went on the halls it was all exploded. He was once music director to Pavlova, by the way, and has conducted many famous shows in London, including The Strauss show, Waltzes from Vienna, at the Alhambra. In his never-ending search for new Continental music, Hyden has just unearthed some new Strauss waltzes. Though they have been bought by a publisher, they are still in manuscript. Some of them will be broadcast by the Cafe Colette tonight.
