Four hundred years after his death, Sir Francis Drake lies in a lead coffin off the coast of Panama. Finding and returning that coffin to his hometown, Plymouth, is the life's work of explorer Michael Turner - work which has become even more urgent since the revelation that there are also teams from Spain and Argentina seeking approval from Panama to find and move the body.
Tonight's programme follows the drama in Panama, looks at some controversial new evidence about the life of Drake, and reviews the intrigue in Britain over the operation. While supporters want Drake to be laid to rest in England, the Royal Navy has made it clear that it is opposed to any such move. Undeterred Turner is getting ready to find the resting place of his hero and prepare him for his final voyage.
