The passion, drama and obsession surrounding flamenco has captured the hearts of a growing number of British devotees who regularly don Cuban heels and frilled skirts in search of an experience that will make their hearts beat faster.
Among their number is Helen Nattrass, Project Manager for London Underground's Jubilee Line extension, who spends her lunch hour out of hard hat and wellies, practising the intricate steps in her portacabin. "People are fascinated that somebody who appears to be reasonably ordinary gets up and does this extraordinary dancing," she says.
