The Christian Brothers controlled the education of hundreds of thousands of Catholic boys in Ireland over more than a century. The independent Irish film-maker Cathal Black , himself an "old boy" of their schools, shows with this provocative and unusual film the effect the Brothers have had on the Irish psyche. Set in the 1950s and shot in black and white, Our Boys uses archive footage, interviews and dramatic reconstruction to explore what Black sees as one of the root causes of sectarian division and social conflict in Irish life.
