Figaro in Manhattan, Cosifan tutte in a Cape Cod diner, seen on BBC2 last year) to setting Handel's Julius Caesar in the Middle East of today.
The power politics unravel at the poolside of an international hotel partially destroyed in a terrorist bomb attack. Sellars describes the work as "four hours of gradually deepening comedy, romance and intrigue" and the production includes three previously unheard arias, two of them discovered in London.

The story of a self-destructive genius whose off-stage demons led him into a life of infidelity, alcoholism, drug addiction - and a musical style that set jazz free. Parker's original solos were used on the soundtrack but the original accompaniments were stripped away and replaced with the work of modern musicians. Forest Whitaker recently starred in the cinema release A Rage in Harlem.
