First showing on network television for the biographical drama, directed by Clint Eastwood , about legendary jazz saxophonist Charlie "Yardbird" Parker, starring Forest Whitaker
The story of a self-destructive genius whose off-stage demons led him into a life of infidelity, alcoholism, drug addiction - and a musical style that set jazz free. Parker's original solos were used on the soundtrack but the original accompaniments were stripped away and replaced with the work of modern musicians. Forest Whitaker recently starred in the cinema release A Rage in Harlem.
