Bringing together some notable names from the world of international jazz, the festival is a firm fixture for jazz fans throughout the world. Jools Holland introduces the first of the week's four televised concerts, opening with the Ruby Braff Trio. American trumpeter Braff achieved recognition in 1953 with a series of classic recordings with the Vie Dickenson
Septet. He has been described as 'the most artistic trumpeter to emerge in jazz since Louis Armstrong ' and his style - strong, lyrical and polished - owes much to Armstrong's work. Tonight he appears with his own trio featuring Howard Alden and Frank Tate.
