The Search for Nijinsky's Rite of Spring
Paris, 1913 - the premiere of The Rite of Spring, with choreography by Vaslav Nijinsky to a score by Igor Stravinsky. The theatre audience rioted. After four performances and a few more in London, the ballet vanished. Now, thanks to the detective work of Millicent Hodson and Kenneth Archer , the choreography, costumes and sets have been re-created. Tonight's programme tells the story of the search for the lost ballet and, 75 years later,
Nijinsky's The Rite of Spring comes to life again in a performance by the Joffrey Ballet.
