5: I'm Looking Forward to the Change
Danny Wyatt has spent all his working life around the same shipyard. As the Austin and Pickersgill yard ran down last winter, Danny was kept on to do night watchman duties in the empty yard. It gave him time to ponder the fate of the once-proud, but now-redundant, shipbuilding traditions. His colleague, Bill Mellish , saw it differently. It had been his job to preach new working practices. It was only logical that he should rise to the challenge.
