For centuries, prejudice and persecution failed to subdue the wandering gypsy, but 20 years after local authorities provided special sites, an entire generation of gypsy children has passed through the education system and been absorbed into society. They've become 'gorgios', as the gypsies call people who live in houses.

However, some, like Alf and Harriet Whitcher, still feel imprisoned in four brick walls, while their daughter and son-in-law have gone back on the road with a traditional wagon and horses.

A portrait of an island continent in six episodes. 5: Land of Flood and Fire Kakadu, in the Northern Territory, and the happy hunting ground of Crocodile Dundee, is Australia at its wettest. Just a short distance from Papua New Guinea, the top end receives the tropical monsoons. The deluge supports lush swamps with myriads of birds, flying foxes and some of the largest crocodiles in the world. There are caves where grotesque bat-eating frogs and snakes lurk, and termites provide nesting places for kingfishers that do not fish. During the dry season, spectacular congregations of ducks and geese occur as the pools dwindle. Here, Australia's own unique wildlife mingles with immigrants from south-east Asia. But over 50,000 years ago, man set foot on Australia's northern shores and, through fire, made a lasting impact on the land.

WWII In the months leading up to the outbreak of the Second World War, nearly 10,000 Jewish and non-Aryan children were transported to safety out of Nazi Europe. They said rushed farewells to parents at stations and travelled alone to a new life in Britain. For most of them it was to be the last time they would ever see their families. On the 50th anniversary of their arrival, the moving story of this forgotten group of children is told - a story that has been too painful to remember for so many years.
