continuing the season of films chosen to complement BBCl's ten-part series, today with the theme
'from "B" movie to blockbuster' starring Dan O'Bannon and Brian Narelle
Anticipating the great science-fiction movies of the late 70s and 80s, this 'B' movie success made John Carpenter 's name as a Hollywood genre director. Set in space, it has the weary crew of the scoutship Dark Star battling an alien in the elevator shaft, unstable stars and wondering what to do with a talking bomb stuck in the bomb bay. Whatever next?

Russia 1916: a young poet returns home in the dying days of the First World War, just before the outbreak of the Russian Revolution. This is the background to this world premiere production by Glyndebourne Touring Opera.
