In April 1986 the Chernobyl nuclear plant in the Soviet Union spewed four per cent of the radioactive contents of one reactor into the atmosphere. The winds carried a small part of the nuclear cloud into northern Scandinavia, the Arctic wilderness which stretches from Norway through Sweden and Finland where the Laplanders live. They are dependent on hunting and fishing, and whatever else nature provides for their existence. Now the reindeer are so heavily contaminated that many are no longer fit for human consumption. The Lapps' way of life is threatened.

This film, made by the Prix Italia award-winning director Dan Sall, explores the consequences.
