A Voyage to the North By barge and boat,
Pete Morgan navigates the ancient waterway used by the Romans to provision their northern garrisons. From Selby Abbey to Ripon Cathedral
On the final part of his voyage, Pete views the former medieval splendours of Cawood and the Palace of Bishopthorpe before reaching the legionary fortress of York itself. But beyond, as the river narrows, lies a little-known Roman civil settlement - and journey's end.

"Ferry is a professional of the highest order and his records are very clever jokes, his singing voice, the ultimate put-on, he should hang in the Tate with David Bowie." (Peter York, author of "Style Wars")
Back in 1972 Roxy Music exploded on to an unsuspecting music scene when they made their television debut on the Old Grey Whistle Test. The result was immediate recognition and a career founded on a blend of sartorial elegance and stylish songs including "Virginia Plain", "Do the strand", and "Avalon". In a rare interview Bryan Ferry talks to Richard Skinner about his career as a solo artist and why Roxy Music many never re-form.

Over-production and over-protection have built up mountains of the very foods we should be eating less of. Ironically the existence of these stockpiles forces the marketing lobbies to persuade us to eat more of them.

As Nissan prepare for assembly of the Bluebird at their Tyne and Wear factory, Frank Page looks at the shape of things to come. And Chris Goffey looks back to the spring of 1966 and the start of the Japanese invasion.
