Whistle Test Extra: Bryan Ferry

on BBC Two England

"Ferry is a professional of the highest order and his records are very clever jokes, his singing voice, the ultimate put-on, he should hang in the Tate with David Bowie." (Peter York, author of "Style Wars")
Back in 1972 Roxy Music exploded on to an unsuspecting music scene when they made their television debut on the Old Grey Whistle Test. The result was immediate recognition and a career founded on a blend of sartorial elegance and stylish songs including "Virginia Plain", "Do the strand", and "Avalon". In a rare interview Bryan Ferry talks to Richard Skinner about his career as a solo artist and why Roxy Music many never re-form.
(A new series of Whistle Test starts on Tuesday 29 April)
