The Embassy
World Professional Snooker Championship from the Crucible Theatre, Sheffield. Twelfth day
The first quarter-final is played to a finish this morning and if results earlier this season are anything to go by, World
Champion STEVE DAVIS (1) is not a certainty to progress through to the semi-finals as ALEX 'HURRICANE' HIGGINS (9) is beginning to show the form that won him the world crown in 1982. Ex-World Champion TERRY GRIFFITHS (8) could also be an obstacle as he tries to recapture the form which gave him the title in 1979. Continuing on the other table is almost certainly going to be JIMMY
WHITE (7) and TONY KNOWLES (2), in their best-of-25-frames quarter-final.
