A social history of garden design from about 1800 to today.
In the 19th century designers like Sir Joseph Paxton and Sir Charles Barry reflected the first fruits of industrialisation in such grand creations as Chatsworth and Trentham. Then there followed a romantic revival, seen in the work of Gertrude Jekyll. But the 20th century saw the development of smaller scale gardens in the USA and Europe.

Camels Outback, Eh?
Yes, there really are camels in Australia's outback. In the old days before the railways, Afghans and their camels were the outback's transport system. The Afghans have gone but some of the camels escaped in the outback and their descendants still roam the deserts.
In this Australian-made film, two experienced horsemen from east-coast Australia go searching for them. They head inland to the country of Ayers Rock and Alice Springs. High on a camel's back is a good way to see Australia's wildlife ... dingoes, wallabies and wild budgerigars. The horsemen, now camelmen, join an expedition in search of wild camels, by helicopter and trail bike. The chase is fast and dangerous and the best way to capture a wild camel is to iump from a helicopter on to its back.

The ninth episode in the Bayreuth production of The Ring of the Nibelung by Richard Wagner divided into ten weekly parts.
Hagen's plotting, urged on by his father Alberich, builds to a mighty climax. Siegfried has been drugged to make him forget his love for Brunnhilde. She is dragged humiliatingly before the crowd as Gunther's unwilling bride; and when she sees the ring on Siegfried's finger she denounces his treachery. The finale is a superb trio of vengeance.
