Documentary. A series of films portraying issues, institutions and characters.
Loneliness - the yawning black hole that afflicts all but the most mentally tough. No age, class, or sex is immune from this most corrosive of modern diseases, and interestingly it is where the greatest crowds are that the greatest loneliness exists-in the cities, where the world passes by on the other side indifferent, self-obsessed.
In this essay on loneliness, five characters in search of someone are sitting on a train. The retired man tries to find his happiness in singles' clubs; the young man through computer dating The unattached mother uses a box number to find the new man in her life The man sitting opposite her has all but given up hope of finding a partner. The mature lady in the corner is adjusting to her loneliness. She has just become a widow. All five share a common problem.
Yet as the train goes down the line not a word is spoken. No one communicates.
