The seventh of nine films Treasure Island
Men talk of their time there as if it should merit a campaign medal. It's a plug of salt-sand 100 miles out in the Persian Gulf, almost buried beneath the towers, tanks and tubes of one of the most complex and potentially dangerous industrial plants ever built. It's called Das Island.
The Sheikh of Abu Dhabi owns it now, and the orders are to put an Arab into every job. The plant being what it is, that's an explosive prospect. Meantime, the British ' commute' from the UK, counting the money.

Who Rules the Rock?
The Marquis of Douro is a Euro mp, and a direct descendant of the Iron Duke of Wellington. With Spain in NATO and wanting to join the EEC. he believes that Britain cannot keep Gibraltar to itself. The Rock should be ruled jointly by the kingdoms of Britain and Spain. He is supported by Senator Fernando Moran , a major foreign affairs spokesman for the Spanish Socialist Party, which is strongly tipped to win the forthcoming general election.
Is Gibraltar the last colonial outpost in Europe? Do some 28,000 Gibraltarians have the right to self-determination or must they pay the price for European unity? Lord Douro and Senator Moran will put their case to an assembled group of Gibraltarians who have just won a long battle to gain British citizenship. Chairman Nick Ross

BBC2 invitation pairs Crown Green bowling tournament Fourth Quarter-final
Mike Leach and Vernon Lee
Stan Frith and Keith Birkett
As commentator HARRY RIGBY remarked : ' Leach and Lee prance around the green like a pair of fairground hobby horses ', but the style belies the approach of these, the local favourites.
Tonight they take on the Cheshire County anchor men, Frith and Birkett, who, although less flamboyant, have consistently enjoyed success in the major North West handicap tournaments. Introduced by RICHARD DUCKENFIELD from the Waterloo Hotel, Blackpool.
