Where can Harriers, Leopards and Scorpions be found with Red Kite, Wild Boar and Tiger Beetle? The answer: Sennelager, a NATO training ground in North Germany where British soldiers exercise with a spectacular armoury that makes this a truly blasted heath. And yet the wildlife, far from being discouraged by the batteries, actually flourishes here. How and why it does is examined in this year-round portrait of a most unlikely nature reserve.

Earlier this year Maze came to England for the first time and achieved instant critical success. Its two London concerts were not only completely sold out but also received rave reviews in the press. All this from a band which has yet to achieve a hit single in this country. In November 1980 it went to New Orleans to play a concert and this programme features highlights from that performance.

When passengers on the QE2 met Captain Douglas Ridley they faced a Master who inspired as much respect as the great liner herself. Yet he came from a modest background in Newcastle, and really always wanted to become a quiet farmer in the Northumberland hills.
His story unfolds during a voyage made just before his ship was sent for service in the Falklands.
