Suddenly and silently from out of the boiling surf come turtles in countless thousands. Soon a normally deserted beach in Costa Rica disappears under a frenzy of mass nesting which is one of the great mysteries of the sea.
This rarely seen spectacle has been filmed by zoologist David Hughes , who spent many months investigating the turtles' strange behaviour and the even more dramatic events that follow the laying of ten million eggs on one tiny beach. For as the eggs hatch, the predators move in - sharks, vultures, iguanas, and even crabs lie in wait for the start of one of the most remarkable struggles for survival in the animal world.

The first of eight programmes in which Arthur Negus visits houses which he especially enjoys, with a companion who shares his affection for the fine houses of this country and the treasures they contain.
He begins at Goodwood in the original Jacobean section of the house, seldom seen, as it is hidden by Wyatt's later additions. Arthur's companion is Bernard Price who lives a few miles away and knows the house and family history well.

ANTHONY BURTON visits Buckler's Hard in Hampshire, where many of Nelson's ships were built; Nelson's Victory at Portsmouth; and the frigate Unicorn at Dundee, to find out how the wooden ships were built and what life was like in them.

Charles Winninger , Arleen Whelan Forty years have passed since the end of the Civil War, but the Confederate spirit, typified by the amiable, ageing Judge Priest , still rules the town of Fairfield, Kentucky. It is election eve, and the Judge is up for re-election once again-but this time seriously rivalled by the State's Attorney, a sharp Yankee politician.
John Ford had made his first film based on the Judge Priest stories in 1934 with Will Rogers in the title role. The Sun Shines Bright, produced in 1953, follows the Judge, played by Charles Win ninger, through a series of incidents that threaten to ruin his political career.
