Krill is a two-inch shrimp-like animal that occurs in huge numbers in Antarctic seas. It's vital food for fish, seals, penguins, albatrosses and whales.
Since the decline of the great whales, a surplus of some 150 million tons of krill has become available. Man is now about to harvest krill, which has been hailed as the ' wonder food' of the future. But how will this affect the other creatures that depend on it for their survival? And just how will man exploit this last great living resource of the sea?

Yet he believes it is still possible to turn this battlefield into a land of peace and plenty for the sake of all the children of the Horn.
