"If we were like horses and could go to sleep on all fours, all our architecture, all our art, would be different." (Moore)

Today Henry Moore celebrates his 80th birthday. Two exhibitions in London at the same time show the extent of his achievement as a sculptor and a graphic artist.
In this special edition of 'Lively Arts' Moore gives a 'private view' of some of the 4,000 drawings, sketches and prints he has made during 57 years of continual activity. These drawings reveal the mind behind the sculpture and show the full range of Moore's response to art, to nature, and to the human figure. Some of these drawings and sketchbooks have never been shown in public before.

by LEO TOLSTOY
The Classic Serial
Dramatised in eight parts by DONALD WILSON starring Nicola Pagett
Eric Porter , Stuart Wilson Parti
' Happy families are all alike; every unhappy family is unhappy in its own way.' Tolstoy's great novel begins with these words and the family we meet first-that of Stiva Oblonsky-is apparently of the second kind. But Stiva's sister Anna is travelling from St Petersburg to Moscow, so the unhappiness may be only temporary. On her return to St Petersburg problems begin for Anna herself.
