Professor Harlan Smith of the University of Texas sees the outer planets of the Solar System and far-distant planets of other stars becoming the New World of the future. And the new explorers will not be so very different from the Pilgrim Fathers, according to Professor Freeman Dyson of the Institute of Advanced Study.
The ships in which our descendants ride to the stars may themselves descend from the fusion-powered starship Daedalus planned by British engineer Alan Bond. Fantasies? Or stepping-stones to the next stage in the destiny of man? It may be harder for the human race to survive on Earth than to risk exploring the vastness of Space, still unknown and uninhabited - as far as we know....

In a Mess
The unique ' situations' project by the Dutch Worktheatre which won the 1977 RAI television prize. This series of highly-entertaining, interlocking playlets is based on the situations people encounter when they come into contact with psychiatry and was originally created by the WORKTHEATRE, a cooperative theatre group, in conjunction with patients in psychiatric institutions.
The programme focuses on the alienation and confusion created by constantly changing role-playing - amusingly depicted by a group of actors who have been happily swapping roles for years. Running through the alienation is the thread of the child-parent, superior-subordinate, doctor-patient relationships which is gradually unravelled into a lucid recovery.
The Worktheatre group offer no ready-made solutions but their questions are seriously posed with insight and humour.
