Angela finds out for herself by night driving to the West Country. Twenty people are killed and over 200 seriously injured each week yet these figures could be cut to one tenth if we used our seat belts. Should we leave it to persuasion or is compulsion the final answer?

3: Bondage in Egypt
The Israelites' deliverance from bondage in Egypt (Exodus ch 13, 14) was a corner-stone of their religious tradition. The feast of the Passover celebrates their escape under the leadership of Moses, himself directly inspired by God.
Yet the Egyptians, in all the mass of written records they left behind, made no mention of an Israelite presence in their land-not even of Joseph, who, the Bible tells us, became Pharaoh's Grand Vizier.

In the last film he made before his death in November 1976, Jean Gabin plays a crook of the old school, currently doing time in France. A television programme about the millions of tourists expected in Rome for Holy Year persuades him that it would be a good year to retrieve some loot buried near the Vatican. Escaping from prison is easy enough but contending with the methods used by modern criminals proves much trickier. And the robes of a Catholic Bishop are not really a disguise for an unexpected reunion with a former girlfriend...
