The characters we know from fiction who still live on today. Thirteen programmes which look at figures in an American landscape.
In the United States today, more people would rather be President of General Motors than President of the country. Elliott M. Estes made it all the way from the factory floor to the top of the second largest business empire in the world.
He runs a corporation so big that, if it was an independent country, measured by wealth, it would be the sixth largest nation on earth. He has achieved the corporation man's most spectacular dream. Now, he earns a million dollars a year as boss of 750,000 employees and, in true American tradition, he'd like every one of them to call him 'Pete.'
He starts work at dawn, seldom takes holidays and can't bring himself to speak the names of his competitors out loud. He is heavily guarded at all times and has never before allowed his life and work to be filmed.
