This programme is concerned with REMBRANDT'S worldly success as a portrait painter- in Amsterdam, a period of his life that culminated in the commission for the enormous portrait group known as ' The Night Watch.'

The problems of growing old was one of OGDEN NASH's favourite subjects, along with courtship, marriage, parents and children, animals and the agonies of modern life.
NASH, 1902-1971, is one of America's most quoted of poets, famous for his wit and tortuous rhymes: I could not love New York so much Loved I not Baltimore.
In this programme, NASH'S poems are read before an invited audience in the studio and there are reminiscences on film, from Nash's wife
: Frances, his daughters Linell and Isabel, and from his friends and colleagues Albert Hackett , Cornwell Jackson and Milton Rosenstock.
