Suddenly and silently, from out of the boiling surf come thousands upon thousands of turtles. Soon a normally deserted beach in Costa Rica disappears under the weight of an Arribada - the Spanish word for this frenzy of mass nesting which is one of the great mysteries of the sea.

This rarely seen spectacle has been filmed by David Hughes, who spent many months investigating the turtles' strange behaviour and the even more dramatic events that follow the laying of ten million eggs on one tiny beach. For, as the eggs hatch, the predators move in - sharks, vultures, iguanas and even crabs lie in wait for the start of one of the most remarkable struggles for survival in the animal world.

One hundred and fifty years ago yesterday, Carl Maria von Weber died in London after a long, agonising illness.

To mark the anniversary, John Warrack celebrates the achievements of the most famous German opera composer of his time... Weber was also a virtuoso performer, who wrote music of originality and brilliance for the orchestra, for solo instrumentalists, and for singers.

War is no laughing matter. Frank is injured in combat - sort of. A GI back from the front line is found to be only 15 years old. Hawkeye is happy though. One of his best friends makes a surprise visit to the camp and they have a great reunion. It seems a pity to break up the party...
