Monsters! Mysteries or Myths? Narrated by DEREK JONES
Have you met -' Sasquatch,' ' Nessie ' or ' Yeti '? These ' things ' have one thing in common - each is a legendary monster but with apparently unique identity.
From the American North-west to the Scottish Highlands and on to the Himalayas, both lay enthusiasts and cool experts claim to have seen or heard uncatalogued animal monsters. Scientists oscillate between energetic scepticism and suspended disbelief; but for people who claim to have actually seen these monsters they're definitely not mythical-though they're certainly mysterious. During the summer months in the years before the last war, the daughters of the very best families were driven to Buckingham Palace to be presented at Court. This presentation was the climax of a very special summer for these girls. They were debutantes, making their debut into fashionable society. It was all called 'Coming Out.' And after 1939 mothers never again presented their daughters at Court in the evening. Catherine Ormsby-Gore, Dinah Brand and Christian Grant were all driven to Buckingham Palace to be presented that summer before the war. And they remember the fun and formality of a first London Season.
