"Holland is full!" exclaimed controversial Dutch politician Pym Fortuyn. One of the outcomes of Fortuyn's words was the attention they drew to Holland's architecture and social housing. Paul Allen visits Rotterdam and considers the plans of architects Will Alsop and Rem Koolhaas as the city tries to tackle its problems and to forge an identity at the heart of Europe. GOING DUTCH
This week's session features trombonist Gail Brand in a solo setting, performing a suite of pieces based around sequencers and samples. And as part of Radio 3's Going Dutch week, Jazz on 3 offers another chance to hear the Eric Boeren Quartet, recorded at the Vortex club last year. The trumpeter/cornettist is joined by Wilbert de Joode on baby bass, Michael Moore on saxophone and clarinets, and Dutch drummer Han Bennink.
