Three years age EDWARD O. WILSON , the author of Socio-biology: The New Synthesis suggested that the biological principles which appear to work well for animals could be extended profitably to the human social sciences. The logic of his theme has led Professor Wilson to a closer examination of the social life of man. Dr Colin Blakemore , 1976 Reith Lecturer, examines the arguments advanced in Professor Wilson's new book On Human Nature, published tomorrow.

Act 3

Dr Maarten Vente , Professor of Musicology at Utrecht University and Secretary of the International Society of Organ Builders, talks about the builders. Schnitger, Hinsz, Christian Miiller and the Batz family. Dr Vente illustrates his programme with rare recordings.

1: Travel
J. H. Plumb , Professor Emeritus of Modern English History at the University of Cambridge and fellow of Christ's College, is writing a book on the century in which he feels the growth of a powerful consumer society encouraged the search for leisure and pleasure as we know it today.
In this, the first of three talks, he analyses the development of transport, which led to the idea of taking holidays.
