Today Michael Berkeley talks to the novelist Kirsty Gunn , who was born in New Zealand of Scottish parents and now lives in Edinburgh. Her award-winning books include Rain, The
Keepsake, Featherstone, and most recently, the novella The Boy and the Sea. She is passionate about music, and her tastes range widely across Scottish pipe music, Chopin, Dvorak, Handel, Wagner, Debussy and Morton Feldman.

2/2. Stephen Johnson continues charting the course of the BBC Symphony Orchestra's war.
Having been bombed out of Bristol, the orchestra was sent to Bedford, its home for the rest of the war. Today Stephen Johnson looks at some of its significant artistic achievements, some comic episodes, and the sad and untimely death of Sir Henry Wood.
