English Church Music
The programme ranges In time from Fayrfax and Cornyshe, who were both represented in the Eton Choirbook, to Tye, an important pioneer of Anglican church music, and White, who, but for his early death, might have played a similar role in the development of the English madrigal. In their midst comes Sheppard, whose Libera Nos is surely one of the gems of the English Renaissance: CLERKES OF OXENFOBR director DAVID WULSTAN (Repeated: 17 October)
