In his recently published book, The Siege of Malta Rediscovered, Dr Donald Sultana gave the first full account of Sir Walter Scott's last novel, The Siege of Malta, which has lain buried in confused manuscript form since the author's death. Ian Grimble argues that it is the story of Scott's heroic attempt to complete the novel which forms Dr Sultana's most remarkable discovery.
