This play, set on an island off the west coast of Scotland before the Second World War, concerns two young graduates sent there by the Ministry of Agriculture. The island's custodian and his niece are the men's only companions and, as they learn that their mission is to pave the way for the destruction of the island's habitat, events become darkly surreal and broodingly erotic.

While dining in a restaurant and reminiscing on his devotion to food, his belly reproaches him and reminds him of his origins in the East End. Mark Russell and Robert Sandall present a concert recorded at London's South Bank Centre as part of London Sinfonietta's State of the Nation weekend. It features acclaimed composer Joby Talbot and his chamber pop ensemble Billiardman, appearing with a string quartet. Also on the bill: sonic explorer and turntable artist Lepke B, and Simon Fisher Turner, famous for his work with film director Derek Jarman.
