Juan de Marcos Gonzales, the moving force behind the Buena Vista Social Club, brings his new line-up, a mix of veteran musicians and some of Cuba's best new talent. Saint-Saens's opera based on the biblical story from the book of Judges, recorded at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, in March. Samson is the hero who fights, but eventually gives in to the feminine wiles of Dalila. When she betrays him to the Philistines, Samson prays to God to restore his strength and takes his revenge by destroying the temple of Dagon and everyone inside it.

First, Karlheinz Stockhausen introduces and oversees a performance of Oktophonie from his opera cycle Licht. Then from Cut and Splice, recorded earlierthis evening, there are early electronic pieces byXenakis and performances by composers who have emulated him: Curtis Roads performs Point Line Cloud, and Russell Haswell uses Xenakis's GenDyn software.
