BetterGetltin Your Soul. Brian Priestley presents the first in a new six-part profile of the great American composer, bassist and bandleader Charles Mingus , who was born 80 years ago this month. With contributions from saxophonist
Buddy Colette and trombonist Britt Woodman , with whom Mingus grew up in Los Angeles, as well as lifelong supporters Max Roach and Nat Hentoff , and later employees Don Butterfield and John Stubblefield.
