Michael Berkeley 's guest is James Bernard , the composer of many famous Hammer horror film scores, including Nosferatu and Dracula - Prince of Darkness. Before embarking on his own composing career, James Bernard worked briefly with Benjamin Britten , and here he talks about his experiences at Aldeburgh. His musical choices range from Britten and Verdi to Suk and Rachmaninov.

Camille Paglia , one of America's most controversial cultural critics, gives her own provocative account of the course of feminism. She accuses modern theoretical feminists of denigrating motherhood and emasculating manhood. The lecture, recorded at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London, is followed by a short and stormy exchange with members of the audience. Beatrix Campbell takes the chair.
