The scriptwriters have had it in for Frank Butcher over the past year. His wife has been in prison for killing a girl while drink-driving, he has found his runaway daughter pregnant, his youngest daughter has been bullied at school and he has had to close his cab company after a rival business threatened his wife.
So when money became a decidedly touchy subject too, Frank resorted to an insurance fiddle, calling in the services of Phil Mitchell to torch his business.
But Frank has not been altogether honest with his family about the state of his accounts, so when a loss adjuster from the insurance company comes to check the books, poor old Pat does her best to help them in their enquiries. Frank has only one option left: he goes out for a long walk.

The second of three films penetrating the truly wild places of North America visits the arid Californian peninsula of Baja, a finger of land pointing down the west coast of Mexico, almost enclosing the fertile Sea of Cortez.

The sea is home to a myriad species, from the microscopic to huge manta rays. On its islands nest such exotic birds as the blue-footed boobies, while sea-lions rest between fishing trips.

On the peninsula itself, kangaroo rats emerge at night to hunt for food, while they in turn are the prey of speckled rattlesnakes and over 60 species of scorpion. And amid the cactus forests are to be found Costa's hummingbirds and cactus mice.

Last of a three-part drama starring Brian Cox
Grushko hears rumours that lorries carrying radioactive waste to the Ukraine are returning to St Petersburg fully laden. As he stumbles towards discovering the nature of the cargo, Grushko realises that he is fighting one of the most vicious criminal gangs in the history of his country.
