The first of six programmes

Dragons still wing their way across the British countryside, diminutive in scale but every bit as fearsome as the creatures of myth and fable. Specialist techniques allow us to enter the world of these miniature predators... dragonflies and their slender cousins the damselflies.
The camera follows these winged jewels in flight and pursues them beneath the water. Much that is revealed is seldom seen, and even the familiar assumes a new beauty.
