Emmerson Fittipaldi wins the British Grand Prix at Brands Hatch - and the racing drivers' World Championship. Hannu Mikkola and Gunnar Palm become the first drivers from outside East Africa to win the Safari Rally in a British Ford.
Roger Clark gives Britain a home win in the RAC Rally for the first time since 1959. Sandro Munari wins the 'Monte' for Italy. Graham Hill drives the winning car in the 24 Hours Race at Le Mans. Meet the winners in a great year of motor sport and see them in action.

A journey with David Attenborough

A thousand square miles of unexplored country in the centre of New Guinea; from the air it looked little different from the rest of the jungle-covered mountains that fill most of the island's interior. But then photographs for an aerial survey unexpectedly showed a few tiny clearings. It could be that, hidden in the forest, there lived people still uncontacted by the outside world. So a patrol officer, with 100 carriers, set out to walk straight across the blank patch, to plot its rivers, measure its mountains and see just what did live in its forests.

Adults and children often ask to see replays of the comical games and sequences they found exciting in It's a Knock-Out! and Jeux Sans Frontieres. Some of their requests have already been shown on Ask Aspel, but this programme concentrates into 50 minutes some of the funniest, the craziest and the most spectacular moments of the 1972 series, both at home and abroad.

Kenneth More tells the story of a day in summer when 20,000 people gathered together for the 50th anniversary of the King's Cup Air Race. A few went to nurse their aging aircraft along the course, but most people just stared upwards at the ancient and modern of the skies.

Step into Tarbie's Theatre Club, a modern music-hall with Jim in charge of a New Year burlesque type show and lots of gorgeous girls. The theme, like the jokes, is broad variety and even Clodagh Rodgers forsakes the pop scene to indulge not only in song but also comedy.
