Johnny Ball invites you to sit down and says Are You Aware of Why You Wear What You Wear? Each day Johnny takes an entertaining excursion into an aspect of everyday life that you might De taking for granted.
Today he delves into the past, present and future of textiles. Did you know that you are wearing either animal, vegetable or mineral - that your socks could have been growing on a bush-and that some materials end up on the moon?
Meanwhile, get weaving with this-which is the odd material out: leather, cotton, wool, silk?*

The Cornhill Insurance
Test Series
England v Australia from Old Trafford
First day
England and Australia have played 22 Tests at Old Trafford,
England winning 6 to Australia s
4. Twenty-five years ago, in what will always be remembered as 'Laker's Match', Jim Laker took 19 wickets - for 37 and 10 for 53 -to set a world record that is all but unbeatable.
More recently, in 1964, Australia made 656 for 8 declared in their first innings-still the highest score in an Old Trafford Test-thanks largely to an opening partnership of 201 between Lawry (106) and Simpson who went on to score 311. England replied with 611 with Dexter (174) and Barring-ton (256) adding 246 for the third wicket - the match, not surprisingly, ending in a draw. PETER WEST introduces the whole of this morning's play.
