The time-honoured Ebor Handicap (to be broadcast for the second time) is one of the big prizes of the York August meeting, which opened yesterday and closes tomorrow, and in point of quality might be called the Ascot of the North.
The Ebor is a Plate of 2,350 sovs.

The World's Cycling Championships will be held in Italy during the next ten days, and Great Britain will be represented in four events: the Amateur Sprint, the Professional Sprint, the Amateur Road Race, and the Professional Unpaced Pursuit Championship. This evening Alex. A. Josey , who has broadcast before on cycling topics, will sum up the British prospects.

Martin Boddey , who is a member of the BBC Singers, Section A, studied at the Guildhall School of Music under Walter Hyde. While still a student he was asked to join the English Singers for a tour in America and Canada. Boddey, who was born in London in 1907, is a versatile artist, for he has sung in films, musical comedy, and is a gifted interpreter of English, French, German, and Italian songs.
His regular connection with broadcasting began in 1934, when he joined the Wireless Singers, and one of his most distinguished appearances before the microphone was in the speaking part in Milhaud's Christopher Cotumbus. In 1936 he was appointed professor at the Guildhall School of Music. Recently Martin Boddey gave, with great success, a broadcast recital of some of Constant Lambert's settings of Chinese poems.

Famous husbands and wives dance through the years with Dave Frost and his Band
Helen Raymond and Les Arthur and Nat D. Ayer and his wife ' Bonnie '
Dave Frost 's experience of dance music and dancing goes back to the third year of the war when he was pianist with the first jazz band in England. In association with Herman Darewski , he was in on the ground floor, as it were, of the boom in dance bands ; soon they were selling orchestrations right and left.
Some of his engagements between
1919 and 1926 were at the Ritz Hotel, the Carlton Hotel, the Criterion Roof Garden, Rector's Club, and the Hotel Cecil, with Jack Payne-his first broadcast. In 1924-25 he provided the music at the Lucullus Restaurant, Wembley Exhibition. From 1924 to 1934 he supplied orchestras to the Silver Slipper and the Kit Cat Club, the Cafe Anglais, Cafe de Paris, and the Hotel Splendide. Listeners this evening will welcome his musical recollections.
