Goldmark's ' Country Wedding' Symphony is really a symphonic suite in five movements, each having a descriptive title. The first and last movements are the most considerable of the set. Between them come a Bridal Song ', which is a formal little movement of a naive, folk-like character, a Serenade in the manner of an equally formal little scherzo, and the most impressionistic movement of the five, a slow movement entitled ' In the Garden', wherein Goldmark displays his charming talent for making effective use of the refinements of instrumental colour.

6—' Nelson Relics '
Cecil King
Down in the National Maritime Museum at Greenwich there is one of the most remarkable collections of seafaring relics in the world. It is this collection in general, and certain pieces belonging to Nelson in particular, that Cecil King , the distinguished maritime painter, will talk about this evening.
There are pictures of his in the Imperial War Museum, and also at the Musee de Marine in Paris. He has been marine painter to the Royal Thames Yacht Club . since 1932. He is a member of the Society for Nautical Research, and was responsible for the design of such historical ship models used by the Admiralty as those of Zecbrugge and the Armada.
Cecil King has already broadcast on flags, on which subject he is a specialist.

Dohnanyi's chamber music, which follows the Brahms tradition, is distinguished by its fine craftsmanship and invention. The Cello Sonata in B flat minor, although an early work, is very characteristic of the composer's style. Without any attempt to exploit virtuosity for its own sake, the writing for the cello is both brilliant and effective.
The majestic and imposing first movement and the expressive slow movement show a certain affinity with Brahms. There is a lively scherzo which is particularly attractive. The last movement is interesting for the way in which the composer makes use of themes from the previous movements and weaves them into the texture of a theme and variations.
