Frederick Bason
Collectors of today who have to gather modest sets of twenty-five or fifty have no idea of the difficulties of the old-timer such as Mr. Bason. One series of Guinea Gold cards issued about forty years ago consisted of six thousand ; no collector has a complete set.
Mr. Bason also collects autographs
-he has ten thousand-and is the author of a Somerset Maugham bibliography and the ' Cigarette Card Handbook '.

Midlands v. South
A commentary by Stewart Mac-Pherson, from Addiscombe Recreation
Ground, Croydon
Listeners are to hear the broadcast of a game that was invented as a form of pleasant exercise by a racing cyclist, who had retired — Richard R. Mecredy — in 1891, enjoyed its day and died out ; and then, curiously enough, was rediscovered by another racing cyclist, who had retired-Cyril S. Scott , though he had never heard of the game.
In 1929 the Bicycle Polo Association was formed for the second time, and the game flourishes. Over one hundred clubs are affiliated to it, representing 170 teams, and the game has upwards of a thousand players.
The South of England will be captained by George Brake , Hon. Secretary of the Association. In his team will be ' Ching' Allin, one of the greatest players, Dick Ong ley, star forward of the Norwood Paragons (the English Champions), and Wally Foxwell , who has partnered Brake for Wren Wheelers for the last ten years. The Midlands will be captained by ' Bunny' Webster, of the Polytechnic Cycling Club, and playing for him will be Richard Kirby , who plays for
Oxford City, H. Carlton , the ' Welsh Wizard' (Welsh International captain), Jimmy Duffin (Oxford City), and W. E. Jones , one of the pioneers of the game in the Midlands.
