The time-honoured Ebor Handicap (to be broadcast for the second time) is one of the big prizes of the York August meeting, which opened yesterday and closes tomorrow, and in point of quality might be called the Ascot of the North.
The Ebor is a Plate of 2,350 sovs.
(this year's value), second to receive 250 sovs., and third 100 sovs. The course is left-handed and quite flat, 1 3/4 miles of galloping over the historic Knavesmire, one of .the fairest courses in the world, the draw giving no material advantage to any runner.
