Who will be heading the leaderboard on the penultimate day's play at the year's first Major, taking place at the spectacular Augusta National course in Georgia, USA?
The cream of the world's golfers will be jostling for a share of the$5.6m prize purse but, of course, financial considerations will be of secondary importance to those professionals seeking to join the tournament's youngest winner, Tiger Woods , and its oldest, Jack Nicklaus , as members of the elite band of players entitled to wearthe coveted Green Jacket presented to the champion.
When play finished at this stage last year, American
Jeff Maggert found himself the surprise leader at five under par, having hit a superb round of 66 to overtake
Canadian Mike Weir , who dropped back with a three-over-par 75. Ominously for the rest of the field, however,
Maggert's round was matched by defending champion
Tiger Woods. He battled back from 11 shots off the lead to finish the day trailing by just four, keeping alive his dream of an unprecedented third successive Masters title.
Live coverage is presented by Steve Rider. Commentary comes from Peter Alliss , Ken Brown and Wayne Grady.
Executive producers Barbara Slater and Paul Davies
